iPhone 5 to Ditch Glass Back in Favor of Aluminum?

According to a Chinese source, the next iPhone will have an aluminum backing much like the soon-to-be-released iPad 2, instead of the current shatter-prone glass design. Apple still hasn’t managed to figure out how to paint an iPhone 4 white, so a complete redesign would finally allow them to move on from that aging issue. The source also claims that Apple will be redesigning the antenna to rid the device of the infamous death-grip, and that the iPhone 5 will feature the iPad 2's dual-core A5 chip. No surprise there, though battery life will be a tough problem to solve (the iPad 2 is nearly 50% lithium).

The current iPhone’s design is extremely beautiful, but has been the source of numerous headaches. Moving to a more traditional (unibody?) aluminum design would be a smart move for Apple, if they ever want to please Consumer Reports.
