iOS 4.3 GM on iPod touch 4G Jailbroken Before Official Release

posted by Jonathan Kizer on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 5:00 pm.

Boom! iOS 4.3 (you know, the version of iOS that was released to developers just this morning) has already been jailbroken, thanks to Johnny Franks.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and the screenshots show it all. Franks has only confirmed that his jailbreak (which has not been released yet) will work on the iPod touch 4G, though there’s no reason to suspect that the program will not work on any other device that is currently jailbreakable.

The jailbreak is tethered, so you must use a program on your computer to force it to reboot. It isn’t a huge deal, though it may be enough to keep some jailbreakers on their untethered iOS 4.2.1.

The tweet reads:

While iOS 4.3 GM appears to be jailbroken, that could change by the final release. Apple may choose to patch the exploit used at the last moment, and simply not release another GM and hope that the patch doesn’t break any App Store apps.

There’s no word on a release date, but you can assume that it won’t be long after iOS 4.3 is officially released.

Thanks, jcf_dev (also known as momentumhacker)!
